Mentoring
Programme
Objective: career development
For Mentees: gain insights and advice from experienced academics to boost career development, expand network, and receive support.
For Mentors: give back by helping others and gain new perspectives
How It Works
1. Mentor–Mentee Matching
An executive committee member and the scheme coordinator pair mentors and mentees based on their interests, goals and expertise.
2. Setting Goals
Mentees outline the personal or professional goals they wish to achieve. These goals should be specific, such as completing an article, submitting a book proposal or applying for a grant, and must be agreed upon in advance by both mentor and mentee.
3. Regular Meetings
Mentors and mentees meet a maximum of three times over a 12-month period to discuss progress and provide feedback. Each meeting should last approximately one hour.
4. Tracking Progress
Progress towards the agreed goals should be documented in a short report at the end of the mentoring process.
